About Us
CARTER'S are Australasia's leading publishers of price guides on antiques,
art and collectables.
CARTER'S Price Guide to Antiques in Australasia, the company's flagship
publication was first produced in 1985. The 2008 edition (available
now), is the 24th edition, and like all previous editions was produced
from scratch. Its 736 pages contain detailed descriptions, price ranges,
and colour photographs of thousands of items from all over Australia
and New Zealand. As a testament to the book's popularity, it is known
as 'the antiques and collectables bible' in Australia and New Zealand
by its followers, and has itself become a collectable with earlier
editions fetching as much as AUD$2,025.00 at auction.
John and Linda Furphy, former co-owners of the well known antique-dealing
business, Acorn Antiques in Armadale Victoria and the publishers of
The Australian Art Sales Digest, purchased the CARTER'S business in
May, 2004 and have applied their 30 plus years experience in the antiques
industry to CARTER'S. John's goal is to build on the strongly established
CARTER brand.
Carter's also distribute the printed version of the Australian Art
Sales Digest.
CARTER'S head office is located in metropolitan Sydney about 45 kms north-west of the city centre.
Our General Manager, Trent McVey, has been involved with CARTER'S since 1989, for most of that time in a management position. During his time with CARTER'S, Trent has been involved in all aspects of the business including production, marketing, distribution, sales and day to day operations of the company.
Customer Service Manager, Rosalind Tombs, is the first point of contact
for callers to CARTER'S. Ros joined CARTER'S in early 2005 and is involved
with the production and distribution of all CARTER'S publications, as well
as compilation and despatch of all customer orders.
Our New Zealand distributors, Erik Verbeek and Russell Poppe of Books On
Antiques are located in Akaroa, in the Canterbury region on the East Coast
of New Zealand's South Island, south east of Christchurch. As well as distributing
our publications, Erik and Russell are New Zealand's leading antiques and
collectables fair promoters, and have their own antiques business.
